NSMB

I just want to let my viewers know (though it is late) that I recently purchased a used Nintendo DS in very good condition and perhaps the system's best title, New Super Mario Bros. NSMB is a 2D platformer game reminiscent of the original 8 and 16 bit Mario games with a few new power ups. After playing the first level, I was blown away. The game has gameplay every bit as polished as the original SMB games, and the graphics and sound really show off what the clamshell style DS can do. It is definitely the Super Mario Galaxy equivalent for the DS as far as quality goes (okay, maybe not, but as close as you could possibly get), and it is a must have for anyone who has ever remotely liked Mario, platforming, the DS, or even quality in general. I'm sure this will be on my next iteration of The Top Ten Best Games Ever.

Who shall win?

I am posting this , for lack of a different term, post in tribute to one of my favorite things to do with video gaming and pretty much the rest of life in general; arguing. It just fires me up to defend, and watch others defend, my opinion in an argument. When said argument is about our common hobby, gaming, I practically bubble up with excitement. Granted it helps to see the distorted faces and hear the scraggly, cantankerous voices of my opponents, but I still think that argueing on the internet will be just as much fun. Thus my first episode of Who Shall Win? is on view. I will try to write as many episodes as possible, each one over an interesting and thought-provoking video game stand-off, whether it be between characters, genres, or the games themselves. Just reply with your opinion and why. Though unlikely, on occasion I'll try to tally up votes.

Today's episode is over two characters:Mario and Link. Does the elfish Hylian beat Mario with his Master Sword and assortment of Deku weapons, or can Jumpman fireball Link in his girly-man face? My money's on Mario, because fire melts a metal sword, and face it, the mushroom man has mad hops.

Top ten favorite games ever

Since my blog is brand new, I thought I would start with a post that would probably be commonly searched (or at least I search it :>) on google or yahoo. That way, people would click the link and find the site. Congratulations, you found it!!! Unfortunately, you win nothing! But more importantly, this first poll was inspired by what I love to do; seperate the average from the cream of the crop. So if you would please, post your ten favorite games and give a few words why each game merited a position on the list in your eyes. Here's mine:

10. Daxter:
My favorite PSP game, the run and jump platformer gameplay is great, even when compared to awesome games like the Super Mario Bros franchise.

9. Pokemon Leafgreen/Firered:
Say what you will, falsely attempt to judge my sexuality, etc.,but you can't say much about Pokemon. The characters appeal to everyone, its more addicting than narcotics (which, according to my health teacher, is very addicting) and its plain fun. Plus, its the right way to do a portable adventure.

8.Super Mario 64:
My gaming heaven; pure unadulterated platforming. It would be higher if not for the fact that it pales in comparison to today's visuals and audio.

7. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past:
Ocarina of Time (later on the list) 2D. The graphics are still spectacular by 2D standards, and the story was epic.

6. LOZ: Ocarina of Time:
The first game that really immersed the player in a massive virtual world. Even if you don't like it, you have to respect how polished it is, even by today's standards.

5. Super Mario World:
Colorful, fun, varied, gameplay epitome -- yeah, its that good.

4. Super Mario Bros 3:
The precursor and only superior to SMW in the world of 2D gaming. Introduced suit happy gameplay, a staple in my mind.

3. LOZ: Twilight Princess:
Ocarina of Time brought to today's technical standards. The graphics are majestic from an artistic standpoint.

2. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption:
The most polished FPS (or FPA if you will) I've ever played; its just a lot of fun.

1. Super Mario Galaxy:
Incredible, in a word. Feel free to substitute that word with ones like perfect, amazing, precious, etc.,. This game provided more fun for $50 than I think I'll ever have again or ever had. The gameplay, graphics, sound; all are spot on. If you own a Wii, this is the game to get.

Please reply. Note that this will be updated if any amazing game comes out that really blows me away. Also note that I am not a fan of all genres, and your favorites may not be on the list. That's what comments are for. Thank you.

Introduction to the gamer central blog

Hi, I'm Bloggergamer. I' ve always enjoyed hearing other people's opinions on video gaming, my fun, somewhat obsessive hobby. However, outside of Gamespot, Ign, Gametrailers, and a few other sites, its difficult to find that kind of thing. So I decided to create this blog, in order to recieve other gamer's opinions. I hope you enjoy using it.

As this blog's creater, I will do my best to find news on video gaming as soon as its available. This , you must understand, will be difficult during my school year, but summer is coming, and hopefully that will allow for me to show a little more devotion. Thanks for listening. Please reply by posting your favorite gaming genre and why. Mine is platforming, both 2D and 3D, because it is simple and classic, while fun and challenging at the same time.
